部谷 志朗

Born in Hiroshima City on July 15, 1892, Heya Shirō (birth name Mokichi) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Miyazaki Gingetsu in Fukuyama City and, later, under Fujita Reirō in Tokyo. He then joined Chikuyusha, and began a deeper investigation of the shakuhachi and it’s sound. He earned his teaching credentials in 1921.
