Hirose Kyōho (Hirose Kinosuke) was born on June 11, 1899 in Osaka. He studied Chikuho-ryū shakuhachi under Sakai Chikuho I, and began teaching in 1920. Over his more than 50-year career he belonged to Kyōyū-sha, was a director of the Osaka Sankyoku Association, and won the 1970 Expo Commemoration Award.
