Shakuhachi
A grandson of warlord Kusunoki Masashige, Kusunoki Masakatsu learned shakuhachi and went on a pilgrimage sometime during the Nanbokuchō period (1336 to 1392). The story, as related in the archives of Icchoken temple in Hakata, is that he called this pilgrimage "Komu", and thus is the origin of the name "komusō".
