Born December 12, 1926 in Nagasaki Prefecture, Machida Kyūdō (Machida Yoshihiko) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Kiyota Shōdō, Satō Reidō, and Yamaue Getsuzan. He was a member of the Nagasaki Chikuyu-kai.
