Shakuhachi
Tajima Shōho (Tajima Yotarō) was born September 5, 1898 in Fukui Prefecture. He studied Chikuho-ryū shakuhachi under Tanaka Shūho and started teaching in 1918. Over a career that extended almost 60 years, he belonged to the Shūyū-kai and Seibi-kai, was awarded the title of Dai-Shihan, and was a director of the Osaka Sankyoku Association. He received the 1970 Expo Commemoration Award.
