Shimizu Kodō (ShimizuTakatoshi) was born November 1, 1927 in Fukuoka City. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Kawase-ha (Chikuyusha) teachers Harashima Hōdō and Matsumoto Kindō and started teaching in 1958. He was a member of the Fukuoka Sankyoku Association and was the head of the Fukuoka Kakuun-kai.
