Ishikawa Yōzan (Ishikawa Tokuichi) was born September 7, 1926. A graduate of Okazaki Municipal Miai Elementary School, he studied Tozan-ryū shakuhachi under Suzuki Tanzan, achieving the rank of Dai-Shihan and the title Chikurin-ken. He served as Vice-Chief of the Aichi Prefecture branch of the Tozan-ryū as well as a member of the Nagoya National Convention Committee.
