Fukami Satomi was a Japanese composer and sōkyoku performer. She was an associate professor at Tokyo University of the Arts, a master at Miyagisha University, a presiding officer of the Fukami Japanese Music Society, a presiding officer of the Fukami Ensemble, a lecturer at Columbia University Japanese Music Master Class, and a visiting professor at Ueno Gakuen University. She was born in Fukuoka in 1950. She began to learn koto from her grandmother Fukami Sumiko at the age of 3 and studied under Miyagi Kiyoko (Living National Treasure) and Miyagi Kazue at the age of 16. In 1973, she graduated from the Department of Japanese Music, Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts. While attending school, she studied under Sunagawa Yasue and Kobashi Mikiko. She won the 1st prize in the Miyagi Koto Association National Koto Competition. She completed the master's program at Tokyo University of the Arts in 1975. Received the Excellence Award at the Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival in 1983. Received the 6th Matsuo Performing Arts Award New Face Award in 1985 In 1986, hosted the NHK TV program "Studio L" In 1987, released the original LP record "Dream Illusion" and won the Agency for Cultural Affairs Art Work Award in 1987. In 1993, she became a part-time lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts. In 2012, became an associate professor at Tokyo University of the Arts Retired from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2018
