Shakuhachi
Born in 1899 in Okayama, Moriyasu Shigenori first studied shakuhachi at Chikuyusha in Tokyo under Kawase Junsuke I, receiving his masters license in 1929. He later studied Honkyoku with Uchida Shūdō, who gave him the geimei (artist's name) Shūtō, and Jin Nyodo, who gave him the name Nyotō. Making his home in Osaka, he became a highly-regarded teacher.
