Harada Kōdō (Harada Shigesada) was born October 18, 1926 in Yamaguchi Prefecture. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Wakamatsu Godō (Kaneyasu Tōdō lineage) and began teaching in 1950. He was the vice branch chief of the Nihon Chiku-dō Gakkan Ube branch.
