Nakano Kōho (Nakano Ryōsuke) was born March 30, 1905 in Mie Prefecture. During his more than 50-year career he studied Chikuho-ryū shakuhachi under Wada Chikusei (from the Sakai Chikuō lineage) and started teaching in 1950. He belonged to the Kōyū-kai.
