Shimokawa Tekidō (Shimokawa Michiharu) was born March 21, 1928 in Kagoshima Prefecture. He studied Meian-ryū shakuhachi under Sakurai Muteki. He started teaching in 1963. He was a member of the Koten Shakuhachi Kenkyū-kai and the Muteki-kai.
