Ron Berger
ronsan4@juno.com
In his approach to teaching, Ron Berger combines over twenty years of experience as a student of the shakuhachi with insights gained through formal zen training (from 1975 to the present). His teachers include master performer, Masayuki Koga, and Rinzai zen master, Joshu Sasaki Roshi. His technique also integrates an ongoing exploration of the Asian arts of physical and metaphysical mechanics, including Taiji Chuan, Nei Gung, and Chi Gung. Central to his teaching method is the student's realization of "chi" in the sound of the shakuhachi. As of 1998 Berger was living and teaching in Los Angeles where he was a resident-member of the Rinzai-ji Zen Center.
