Shakuhachi
During the Second World War, Sasaki Sōfū served in Manchuria, where he heard Yoshida Seifū play shakuhachi during a Manchurian tour. Sasaki became obsessed with the shakuhachi and, upon returning to Japan after the war, became Yoshida's student. Sasaki became a teacher himself starting in 1946. When Yoshida passed away, he decided to continue his studies under Aoki Reibo I, then Jin Nyodo. His shakuhachi career spanned almost 60 years.
