Born February 25, 1926 in Joetsu City, Iwasaki Kindō (Iwasaki Seiji) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Eguchi Kendō (of the Nōtomi Judō lineage) and Mizuhashi Yōdō. He began teaching in 1965. He was a member of the Kinko-ryū Judō-kai.
