David Zasloff
Shakuhachi
Music has been a center point in Zasloff’s life since he was a kid growing up in the Bronx where he composed his first song at age four. As an adult he has tried to achieve a deeply felt understanding of nature and the human experience and to express this through his music. He began studying shakuhachi on his own for six years during which time he developed his own unique approach. He then began an eight year apprenticeship of formal study under Hodo Yamaguchi Sensei. David's music includes influences from African, Japanese, Jewish, Caribbean, Jazz, Folk and Blues creating an unusual and distinctive sound. Besides the shakuhachi David is versatile on numerous other instruments including trumpet, guitar, keyboards, bass, and percussion. He has released several CD's, his most recent titled "I Feel Great".
