Born February 17, 1906 in Aichi Prefecture, Ōbori Ichirei (Ōbori Sen’ichi) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Ōyabu Shūrei and began teaching in 1924. He was an advisor to the Tamagawa-sha and was active in the shakuhachi world for over 50 years.
