Born February 5, 1925 in Kagoshima Prefecture, Innami Chikuei (Innami Mitsuyoshi) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Taniguchi Toshio and Ueda Chikusen (Chikuyusha lineage). He started teaching in 1967. He was a member of the Kagoshima Chikuyū-kai and Kinko-ryū Dōshi-kai.
