Born March 25, 1936 in Fukuoka Prefecture, Imamura Keidō (Imamura Kenji) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Matsukawa Yōdō (Torii Kyomudō lineage). He was a member of the Kitakyushu branch of the Wakana-kai.
