Amano Itsujyu (Amano Ken) was born February 24, 1928 in Yamanashi Prefecture. He studied Itsudō-ha Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Ikeda Itsuren and started teaching in 1971. He belonged to the Shakuhachi Itsuren-kai.
