Uwe lectures about the physics of shakuhachi and "Ma" in Japan where often appears on TV. He has lectured at the main temple of the Komuso society in Tokyo and makes his living playing Honkyoku. He belongs to the "Kiri no Kai " Komuso group in Higashi Hoshino. He organized a pilgrimige for 11 Komuso monks to Auschwitz. Uwe is the only shakuhachi player in the world who plays on a tightrope to demonstrate psychological awareness and overcoming fear as a concept of bushido. He has a farmhouse in the countryside near Kyoto where he grows his own crops and participates in local activities. He is a member of the local firebrigade and of the festival commitee.
