Born January 22, 1917 in Hakodate City, Narita Rokuzan (Narita Kisaku) studied Tozan-ryū shakuhachi under Takamoto Senzan, Hirai Kyōzan, Sekigawa Taizan, and Koike Reizan I. He started teaching in 1940. He belonged to the Tozan-ryū Kanto branch. He was the chairman of the Chiba prefecture secretariat and president of the Rokuzan-kai.
