Born March 8, 1906 in Nagoya, Adachi Seishū (given name Adachi Shigeharu) studied shakuhachi under Tanaka Koshū, Tanikita Muchiku, and Uramoto Setchō. In his more than fifty year career he was the former Executive Director of the Kokubungakkai, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Nihon Sōkyoku-kai, President of the Aichi Prefecture Branch of the Myoan Kyōkai, and a member of the Nagoya Traditional Music Association.
