Born in Saitama Prefecture in 1875.
He began his shakuhachi studies with Yamashita Shūken in Kyushu, then moved to Tokyo to study with Kawase Junsuke I at Chikuyusha.
After receiving his shihan, he moved to Kobe and began teaching.
Considered a person of excellent character and integrity, he is recognized for establishing the Kinko-ryū in the Kansai region.
