Horiuchi Kanzan (Horiuchi Hiroo) Born on January 5, 1902 in Yamanashi Prefecture. He studied Tozan-ryū shakuhachi under Imai Bōzan. He started teaching in 1930. In 1965, he became Chikurinken Dai-shihan. In his 40+ year career he was the vice president of the Tozan-ryū Kanto branch and a councilor of the Japan Sankyoku Association.
