Born June 13, 1912 in Ehime Prefecture, Doi Kōyō (Doi Keizaburō) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Kusano Tatsuji, Yoshida Seifū, and Jin Nyodō. During his more than 50 years in shakuhachi he was the president of the Mutsuki-kai, president of the Ehime Sankyoku Kyō-kai, president of the Ehime Kinko-kai, director of the Ehime Japanese Music Federation, and board member of the Matsuyama Performing Arts Association.
