Iida Senzan (Iida Shinichirō) was born February 24, 1908 in Niigata Prefecture. He studied Tozan-ryū shakuhachi under Muragaki Yōzan, a student of Nakao Tozan. He started teaching in 1933. He belonged to the Hokkaido branch of the Tozan-ryū Shakuhachi Gaku-kai and was active in the shakuhachi community for over 40 years.
