Kokû Reibo (Ikkan Ryu)

虚空替手 (一関流)

[Genre]Honkyoku
[School]Kinko Ryû - 琴古流

History (John Singer):

The Ikkan Ryu was established by Miyagi Ikkan who was a student of Kurosawa Kinko I. Originally the Kinko school had no name, however, when the Ikkan Ryu was established the term "Kinko Ryu" began to be used in order to distinguish the two schools or groups. Later the Ikkan style was transmitted to Ikeda Kazue, Yokota Goryu, Yamada Nyodo, Araki Kodo I, and Araki Kodo II. Since Araki Kodo II also studied under the renowned Shakuhachi player Hisamatsu Fuyo of the Kinko school, the Ikkan Ryu merged with the Kinko Ryu. Both schools were very closely connected. The Ikkan Ryu tradition faded out at about the time of the Meiji Restoration.
