"Moyura Op. 41" is made up of five pieces (the obsolete Japanese word moyura means resonance). They represent a faint hope we have, despair from an empty dream, transparent resignation, anxiety for a far end, whose fragments touch wood and strum strings. These five scenes can be said to follow the life of a man from the cradle to the grave. 1. Largo: theme. 2. Allegro 3. Andante: intermezzo 4. Lento: adagio 5. Allegro: dance Written from spring through fall in 1990, commissioned by Nanae Yoshimura, this work may be called a sonata-like tapestry woven between Symphony No. 2 and No. 3. |
