Hagioka Shōin I

Blind at the age of 4, he studied koto music of the Ikuta school under Ōmatsu Kengyō at the age of 8, then switched to the Yamada school and studied under Yamase Shōin I in 1875. He became a teacher at the Tokyo School for the Blind, where he was later appointed professor. His representative works include his first composition "Shunkan" and 13 other pieces in the Yamada repertoire.
