Born January 10, 1900, Kusano Itsusen (Kusano Tokio) studied Itsudō-ha Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Okutani Itsuka and Imao Itsuha. Started teaching in 1926 and belonged to the Itsuka-kai. He was an active performer and teacher for more than 40 years.
