Mori Yūji (1929-2012) Born in Sakata City, Yamagata Pref. In 1935 he moved to Tokyo to study koto, sangen and kokyū with Miyagi Michio. Entered the Tokyo School for the Blind (elementary level) and studied piano and western music as well as Yamada-ryū koto with Saitō Shōsei and Hisamoto Genchi. Studied music theory with Dan Ikuma and Shibata Minao and, after graduating, taught at the TSB. Later he also taught at the Kawamura School for Girls. His compositions include From the Poems of Ishikawa Takuboku, Duet for Koto and Flute, Ichikotsu-chō, Fantasy for Solo Koto and others.
